b   At the end of the eighties scientific researchers from all over the world showed that the concern for the condition of the ozone layer is justified. Based on their urge, Montreal protocol on materials that damage the ozone layer was signed in Montreal on 16th Seprember 1987, which besides harmful impacts of certain chemicals on ozone layer, encouraged the making of the program of protection activities, over UNEP –environmental program of the UN, in order to stop further damages. Number of state parties to Protocol has increased to more than 150 from the initial 46 and September is traditionally celebrated as International day for the preservation of ozone layer each year.

   When Montreal protocol was signed, it wasn’t obvious if it will be possible to achieve elimination of the substances that damage the ozone layer in short period, which is determined by this contract. Today, thank to Montreal protocol, over 95% of substances that damage the ozone layer have been reduced, which protects the ozone layer for current and future generations.
On Thursday, 16th September 2010, the representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency and Ministry of spatial planning and environmental protection visited Elementary school ’’Stampar Makarije’’. The aim of the visit was celebrating ecological date and education of the youngest on significance and necessity of the ozone layer protection, as well as the most common ways of its destruction.
Along with the representatives of the Agency and Ministry, eco hours was attended by the director of the E.school ’’Stampar Makarije’’, assistant minister of education Vesna Vucurovic and representatives of Nature Conservation Association Podgorica, who used this opportunity to enriched the school yard with various seedlings.
After eco hour children received promotional materials – flyers, t-shirts and picture books Ozzy Ozone.

        Also, representatives of the Agency used this day to perform eco hour on the subject of ozone layer protection in Elementary school ’’Ratko Zaric’’ in Niksic in cooperation with NGO ’’Ozone’’ from Niksic.
During the eco hour presentations on the subjects: Ozone layer, Climate changeds and Human impact on environment were given, adjusted to the age of the fourth grade.
After given eco hour children received promotional materials – flyers, t-shirts and picture books ’’Ozzy Ozone’’ and future directions of cooperation were arranged with the representatives of the school ’’Ratko Zaric’’
