Monday, 01 June 2009 12:54
- The issue of licenses in the field of environmental protection that refers to ionizing radiation protection and radioactive materials
- The issue of licenses in the field of non-ionizing radiation source protection
- Communication with licensees and potential license candidates, as well as their advising
- Management of the central register of ionizing radiation sources and users of these sources, radioactive materials, radioactive waste, license applicants, registration ratification, professionally exposed persons as well as relevant data important for ionizing radiation protection
- Following adoption and implementation of regulations, EU recommendations and directives in the area of licensing for ionizing and non-ionizing radiation
- Preparation of reports and information from the scope
- Legal entities and entrepreneurs who want to produce, transport and use resources of ionizing radiation, cannot perform the activities before they get a decision of the competent body on the fulfillment of the conditions for carrying out these activities
-The Agency issues licenses to legal entities based on the decision on conditions which must be met by legal persons for performing measurements for the assessment of the level of exposure to ionizing radiation to persons who work with radiation sources, patients and population and for:
- Dosimetric measurements and control of the working environment
- Measurement of the level of individual external exposure of professionally exposed persons(personal dosimetric control)
- Measurement of the level of internal exposure of professionally exposed persons
- Bio-dosimetric measurement of individual exposure to ionizing radiation
- Measurement for the implementation of programs of quality control and assurance.
- Design of measures for ionizing radiation protection
A responsible institution that controls the state of health of professionally exposed persons who work in the ionizing radiation zone is the Public Health Institution "Health Center" - Podgorica. Traffic of ionizing radiation sources across the border of Montenegro can be performed only with the approval of competent state bodies.
Legal entities and entrepreneurs can produce, perform traffic of and use ionizing radiation resources if they meet the following conditions:
1. That the facilities and premises in which ionizing radiation sources are produced and stored or used for work must be in accordance with technical, safety, health and other prescribed conditions.
2. That persons working with ionizing radiation sources are provided with adequate means for ionizing radiation protection as well as equipment for the radiation measurement.
3. To ensure that people who have prescribed qualifications work with ionizing radiation sources and to meet the prescribed health conditions before and during the work with ionizing radiation sources.
4. To undertake all measures in order to avoid contamination of the environment.
5. To undertake all prescribed measures in order that radioactive waste should not result in the contamination of the environment above the prescribed limits.
